This is made in a bold, ripe cassis stytle that suits the tannins that the rugged slopes of Atlas Peak dish out. Notes of star anise and cedar spice join the black fruit, and the well-tamed tannins are supple, showing power and refined character through a silkly smooth finish.
Our 2015 vintage shows forward ripe blackberry, cassis, pie spice and vanilla and just a hint of leaf on the nose, and all elements are translated well on the palate, with bright acidtiy carrying it all together throug the long spicy finish.
This wine was fermented in a concrete egg and blended with 3% Chardonnay to produce a soft, rich and elegant wine. The translation in the bottle yeilds earthy flavors and a mineral essence layered with tropical fruit, melon and just a hint of grapefruit.
From the famous Sangiacomo Vineyard along the Sonoma Coast this wine's coastal influence shines through with great fruit and acid balance, light tropical fruit, ripe apple and pear with wet stone minerality.
